English: The banaa is a ceiling joist whose model often embodies a rectangular shape. The timber of a given weight and make, and has been used in Lamu for ceilings in all the conforming traditional Swahili buildings.
Kiswahili: Banaa ni kiunganishi cha dari ambacho kielelezo chake mara nyingi hujumuisha umbo la mstatili. Mbao za uzani uliopeanwa na kutengeneza, na zimetumika Lamu kwa dari katika majengo yote yanayofanana ya Waswahili.
