Description
Deutsch: Beide Kunstwerke im Bild werden seit dem 10. November 1938 gesucht (NS-Raubgut). [Original-Bildunterschrift:] Bücherzimmer im Haus Otto Bamberger, Lichtenfels, Bayern. Architekt Erich Dieckmann, Weimar. Schränke mit Kristallglastüren, Holz: Mooreiche. Velourbelag: elfenbeinfarbig. Wand: ocker. Vorhang: Rohseide natur. Eingebaute niedrige Schränke ringsum. Die Bibliothek enthielt u. a. wertvolle Kunstbildbände, während der "Reichskristallnacht" teilweise von lokalen Angehörigen der SA auf die Straße geworfen.
English: One of the living-rooms of Otto Bamberger (1885–1933) in his villa in Lichtenfels, Upper Franconia, Bavaria, Germany. Both artworks in the picture are wanted since Nov. 10, 1938 (confiscated by Nazis, classified as "degenerate"). The interior of the room was styled by furniture designer Erich Dieckmann (1896–1944) of Bauhaus Weimar. Description from a contemporary design mag – wood: bog oak, velor flooring: ivory colored, wall: ocher, curtain: raw silk natural, built-in low cabinets all around. These low cabinets were used to store unframed paintings, graphics and such. The library contained many valuable art books, which partially got thrown out on the street by local SA-troops during "Kristallnacht" on Nov 9/10, 1938.
