Mark-ham, regional director of rail-roads for the Allegheny Region,sent out an urgent appeal withdefinite instructions for the conserva-tion of railway material of all sorts.He issued instructions for the formationof a reclamation committee on each ofthe railroads under his jurisdiction anddirects the recovery and sale of scrapmaterials generally. As usual, his appeal found a readyresponse on the Baltimore and OhioSystem.The fol-lowingcommit-tee wasf ormedto inves-t i g a t ethe re-clama-tion andconser-vationof mate-rial: J.T. An-drews,maint e-nance of way and structures; O. V. McQuilkin,store houses; S. A. Cromwell, car shops,and Henry Gardner, locomotive shops.
