Pangbornduring his trip through European and Asiatic Russia, while the Trans-Siberian Railroad was being con-structed. T( i)r. The services and music in the Russian (Greek Catholic) churches are the moat beautiful known. Small townsb(i:ist wonderful cathedrals, the one in this picture being in a city of no great size. Middle left: A Siberian taxicab. Middle centre: Cossacks and their wiry mounts. This type of soldier has been pushing irresistibly over the Caucasusand into Asiatic Turkey during the last month. Middle right: Chief of a Goldes (Mongolian) village. Bottom: We usually think of camels as creatures of the tropical deserts, but before the Trans-Siberian railroad wascompleted these sturdy beasts (the Bactrian or two-humped camels) were tlie motive power for tlie transportation offreight across the frozen steppes of Siberia. mm mw PP ■»^^fc
