Pangbornduring his trip through European and Asiatic Russia, while the Trans-Siberian Railroad was being con-structed. They are interesting at this time particularly because over this line vast quantities of warmunitions and supplies are now being transported across Siberia to the Russian battle front. T( i)r. The services and music in the Russian (Greek Catholic) churches are the moat beautiful known. Small townsb(i:ist wonderful cathedrals, the one in this picture being in a city of no great size. Middle left: A Siberian taxicab. Middle centre: Cossacks and their wiry mounts. This type of soldier has been pushing irresistibly over the Caucasusand into Asiatic Turkey during the last month. Middle right: Chief of a Goldes (Mongolian) village. Bottom: We usually think of camels as creatures of the tropical deserts, but before the Trans-Siberian railroad wascompleted these sturdy beasts (the Bactrian or two-humped camels) were tlie motive power for tlie transportation offreight across the frozen steppes of Siberia. mm mw PP ■»^^fc
