From the Boys Over There The following letter is from Private IrvingLathroum of the 117th Trench Mortar Batteryto his sister, Miss Rowena M. Lathroum, of theoffice of auditor of passenger receipts. Mr.Lathroum was formerly employed at Mt. Clare: Dearest Sister—So many things have happenedsince my arriving here that I do not know justhow to put them in a letter. We arrived here July6, about 4 a. m., and made our camp in a clump oftrees located about seven miles behind the lines.That night the first platoon left for their posi-tion, where they were to man six guns. A fewdays later they were followed by the secondplatoon, who also had six guns. Our positionswere located on a sector which was of vitalimportance. For six days everything was asquiet as a Sunday on the farm.
