Summary
[edit]DescriptionBaltic nodule.jpg |
English: The nodule is zoned with alternating Fe-rich and Mn-rich bands. Fe is speciated as two-line ferrihydrite and Mn as turbostratic birnessite (vernadite). The growth rate is approximately 10-20 microns/year.
Zn concentration is highest in the surface layers, which is a signature of anthropogenic input. Zn is coded as red, Mn as green, and Fe as blue. |
