Description
Het Hof van Zeeland aan het Abdijplein in Middelburg. Het Hof is gevestigd in één van de voormalige abdijen van Middelburg. Deze werd in 1574 na de verovering van de stad door de Geuzen zetel van het provinciaal bestuur van Zeeland. De griffie was gevestigd in de voormalige bisschopswoning links van het middenpad. De Staten en de Gecommitteerde Raden vergaderden in de voormalige kapittelzaal, die zich op de etage van het gebouw rechts van het middenpad bevond. De ambtswoning van de raadpensionaris bevond zich in de St. Pieterstraat, achter de woning van de vice-admiraal, waarvan de aanzet geheel links op de prent zichtbaar is. In de dwarsvleugel rechts vergaderden de prinsen van Oranje. Kopie naar een (emblematische) prent van Adriaen Pietersz. van de Venne uit 1618, gebruikt in Jacob Cats' Sileni Alcibiadis (Amsterdam 1619).
