| Description |
English: Ballinamore Golf Club bridge. This bridge links the club house (to the left) with the course of the Ballinamore Golf Club. This is not the only example of a bridge erected by a golf club over a significant waterway - see 484746.
The bridge spans the Shannon-Erne Waterway. The Waterway is a major canal restoration project, completed in 1994, which links the two principal river systems of Ireland - the Shannon at Leitrim village with the Erne downstream from Belturbet. The road in the photograph is followed by the Kingfisher Trail, the first long-distance cycle route to be established in Ireland, which crosses and recrosses the Border in a 270 Km long figure of eight. |
