Summary
[edit]DescriptionBall Game.jpg |
English: It is the largest Ball Game in Mesoamerica with 168 m long and 70 m wide.
It was built during the Terminal Classic age, about 900 A.C. Compared with other similar structures the Ball Game of Chichén Itzá is the largest of Mexico and is unusual in its form: it consists of two parallel straight walls and stands on three sides. The friezes that delimit sidewalks east and west have reliefs with scenes from sacred ceremonial in which teams of seven characters are richly dressed amid profuse symbolism, including the sacrifice by decapitation of one player by the hands of another one of the opposite team. Above the slope, at a height unusual rings are shaped feathered serpents intertwined, it means the ball game here could be done under another form. |
