Description

[A] the 15th century Pura Tanah Lot temple is the most popular Bali temple; perched atop an outcrop with the Indian Ocean as its backdrop, sunsets here can be very picturesque; [B] 'occupational' temples are small monuments put up by people of common occupation; they are found in every field and in almost every spot in Bali; [C] throughout the day, people go to temples to present gifts; [D] McDonald's in Bali also feature the traditional-style roof!; [E] even a Presbyterian chapel's crucifix was deemed appropriate to be framed in the traditional Balinese design; and

[F] Pura Tirta Empul is one of the oldest sacred water places, at more than a thousand years old. Beside Tirta Empul is the stunning Gunung Kawi (shown here), a memorial to Bali's departed kings and queens.
