Description

The Bales Thriftway (also known as Bales Marketplace) in Aloha, Oregon, was located on SW Farmington Road just west of Kinnaman Road. A Thriftway store first opened at this intersection in 1974, known as Farmington Thriftway, then became a "Bales Thriftway" after being acquired by Odus Bales in the early 1980s. The first Bales-owned Thriftway store opened in St. Johns in 1951 and was sold in 1970 (becoming Taylor's Thriftway and later a Kienow's grocery). The second Bales Thriftway opened in Cedar Mill in 1961 (and moved to a larger building nearby in 1988), but both stores closed in October 2019.

The 2012-opened Aloha Community Library is housed in the same shopping complex as the Bales store, originally in the adjacent building that is partially visible on the far right but later moving to a different space within the complex.
