    滝沢馬琴は、...江戸時代の戯作者（げさくしゃ）です。旗本松平信成の家臣の子として生まれた馬琴は、元飯田町中坂下（現在の九段北一丁目）の下駄屋会田家の養子となりますが、家業を人に任せ、戯作者としての道を歩み始めます。1824年（文政7年）には、外神田のこの場所に転居し、...などを著しています。
    馬琴は、1836年（天保7年）に四谷信濃坂（現在の新宿区信濃町）に転居するまでの12年間ここで暮らしました。     "
