Description
English:
Built to a six storey, U-shaped, tenement building with closed, trapezoid shape coutyard, groundfloor shops (now courtyard side shops are remodelled to flats). Two wings building ech has a separate staircase. Balcony on top floor. 3-3 enclosed balconies 2nd to 5th floor. Architect: Zoltán Reiss. Built in 1929. First owner: Kasselik Foundation. This building was a participant of Budapest100 (2021) event. Here lived Imre Palló operatic baritone; János Sárdy opera singer, film actor; Viktor Fülöp ballet dancer; Simon Hevesi Chief Rabbi of Budapest, founder of the National Hungarian Israelite Public Education Association, studied at the Budapest University of Jewish Studies, university educator, theologian; Kornél Gelley actor and Györgyi Bánki ballet dancer - 5 Bajcsy-Zsilinszky Street, 7th district of Budapest.

A Vilmos császár (ma Bajcsy-Zsilinszky) út 5. szám alatt épült hatemeletes bérház Kasselik (Ferenc és Erzsébet) Alapítvány megbízásából készült. Tervező: Reiss Zoltán. Építés éve: 1929 Épületszobrászati díszítés csak az ötödik emeleten lévő zárterkélyek két oldalán található: itt nő- és férfi akt alakokat ábrázoló domborművek kaptak helyet. A tágas előcsarnok érdekes eleme a kör alakú mennyezetsüllyesztés, mely alatt excentrikusan helyezkedik el a különlegesen megvilágított virágdíszítéssel ellátott acéloszlop. Az épületben élt Palló Imre (1891–1978) operaénekes, Sárdy János (1907–1969) színész, operaénekes /a homlokzaton Sárdy János domborműves emléktábla Nagy Karolina alkotása (2024 bronz portré dombormű fekete márvány? táblán)[1]/, Fülöp Viktor (1929–1997) balettművész, Dr. Hevesi (Handler) Simon (1868–1943) budapesti főrabbi, az Országos Magyar Izraelita Közművelődési Egyesület alapítója, Gelley Kornél színművész és Bánki Györgyi balettművész is eltöltött néhány évet a Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út 5. falai között. A bérházat kezdetekben leginkább zsidók lakták, 1944-ben csillagos ház lett. Budapest100 2021 résztvevője. Kutatás: Kovács Ágnes, Stadler Anna - Budapest, VI. kerület, Bajcsy-Zsilinszky út 5.
