Summary
[edit]DescriptionBaist Seattle 1905 plate 17 - B.jpg |
Part of plate 17, Baist's Real Estate Maps of Surveys of Seattle (1905). Shows building-by-building detail of part of Seattle's University District and (to the west) the Latona neighborhood (far more important then than now; it is now usually just thought of as part of lower Wallingford). This image shows, among other things, where the old bridge was connecting Eastlake to the University District (almost exactly the same route as today's Interstate 5 high bridge), and where the Latona railroad station stood (at left). This is an image of a plastic-covered document: some reflections and also some shadow. I've done some quick-and-dirty transformation to deal with some of the distortion of the angle from which this had to be shot (because of overhead lights); then I sharpened it a tad. If someone can do a better job that would be welcome; I recommend starting from the raw photo. |
