Summary

[edit]
Description
English: 24 June 2009. A CCTV camera records Chesnut Road from a mast high above a pile of fly-tipped builders' waste. (Hover your mouse over the photo to see the note.)

( § View large on black. )

The camera automatically pans. Though because of the angle, the waste may be in a 'blind spot' . Even so CCTV will surely have captured shots of whoever brought this stuff?

That's the good news.

Here's the bad news. Even though the stretch of pavement is a popular place to leave garbage, this particular camera has never seen any dumpers. (Though it seems to have no problem spotting car numberplates.)

Once upon a time I still had some hope that Haringey considered dumped waste as important as making money from parking fines.

Please see three photos I took yesterday evening 24 June in Chesnut Road N17 and posted on Flickr.

The first two show builders' waste dumped on the pavement in Chesnut Road underneath the CCTV mast opposite the corner with Rycroft Way. The third photo shows bags of domestic waste dumped near the litter bin at the corner of Chesnut Grove.

I have reported this through the Council's website for clearance.

The waste dumped directly below the CCTV camera may not be visible because of the camera angle. But if the camera was working, the actual bringing and dumping - and possibly the vehicle involved - must have been recorded.

As a matter of urgency could you please arrange for the CCTV footage to be reviewed and action taken.
