Description Arms of Bagge of Plymouth in Devon: Paly and bendy (of six) counter-changed argent and gules on a chief or three cinquefoils azure (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.39, "granted 1607"); Lozengy argent and gules, on a chief or three cinquefoils azure (Vivian, Lt.Col. J.L., (Ed.) The Visitations of the County of Devon: Comprising the Heralds' Visitations of 1531, 1564 & 1620, Exeter, 1895, p.34, pedigree of "Bagg of Plymouth". This family was seated in the parish of St Andrew in the City of Plymouth and later at Saltram, near Plymouth. In 1629 Sir James Bagge was Captain of the Fort of Plymouth; his wife was Gertrude Fortescue, a daughter of John Fortescue of Filliegh in Devon.
