Notes | Red Cross cloth badge Belonged to Major Ailleen (Pat) Taylor RRC, Queen Alexandra's Royal Navy Nursing Service (QARNNS) Major Ailleen (Pat) Taylor, RRC, QARNNS Served- pre-WW2- UK WW2 and post-war- Matron Royal Navy Hospital Awards- RRC Ailleen Marjory Taylor (1895-1985), known as Pat, undertook her initial training at the New Plymouth Hospital, followed by further training in the UK in the mid-1920s. During WW2 Ailleen rose to the poisition of Matron. She served on HM Hospital Ship Vita (1943) and at the Royal Naval Auxiliary Auxiliary Hospital at Divatalawa (1944). While serving in Divitalawa she was awarded the Royal Red Cross (1st Class). Ailleen Tayor retired from the QARNNS in 1952, and the same year registered as a General Nurse in Queensland, Australia, but later returned to New Zealand. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
