Summary

[edit]
Description Granular backfill was placed behind the new abutments as part of an FHWA, Highways for LIFE supported Utah DOT demonstration project that replaced the existing deteriorated bridge over the interstate during a weekend closure. SPMT and other ABC techniques and methods were used, as well as Innovative Contracting and Construction Manager General Contractor (CMGC). The free-draining backfill material minimized compaction efforts to expedite construction.
