| Description | Sepilok Orangutan Centre visit over, it's now back to Uncle Tan's base camp for lunch and for the onward journey to the Kinabatangan River jungle camp for wildlife viewing. Uncle Tan's Wildlife Camp is well known among budget travelers and wildlife enthusiasts as one of the best ways to experience the wonders of the Kinabatangan River. Uncle Tan himself passed away in October 2002, but his legacy lives on, continued by his son. The Malaysian Govt. has been very unfair to Uncle Tan by taking away his original camp, which was overflowing with wildlife, and banishing him four hours downstream to a rather remote area which is as yet not yet fully discovered, meaning wildlife sighting is rather hit and miss. Still, the authentic jungle experience there can't be beat. (Uncle Tan's base camp, Sepilok, Sabah, East Malaysia, Nov. 2013) |
