Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Back to Back terrace houses, Bankfield Road, Leeds. Leeds still has a very substantial number of back-to-back terraced houses (that is, each is attached to the house each side of it, and behind it). Many cities built them, but they were outlawed by the Housing and Town Planning Act of 1909. Somehow Leeds managed to find a loophole and continued to allow them until the 1930's. These examples between Kirkstall Road and Burley Road are larger than many. See this page on the Leeds Civic Trust website.
