Description
English: A narrow-gauge Boston, Winthrop and Point Shirley Railroad train at the south end of Cottage Hill (Bay Head) in Winthrop, Massachusetts. The BW&PS and the standard gauge Eastern Junction, Broad Sound Pier and Point Shirley (bottom right) had parallel rights of way south of Cottage Hill, but shared a dual-gauge trestle (top right) around the hill. This image was taken in 1883, when the EJ was complete but not yet operational and the two railroads had not yet merged.
