Title
BUTTON
Description
English: A complete lead button of post medieval date. The button head is sub-circular in plan and domed in profile. The attachment loop is sub-rectanuglar in plan, with a sub-circular opening set slightly off-centre. The front face of the button is decorated with a shallow ridge which follows the circumerence of the button head and is set approximately 5mm in from the button's edge. This exaggerates the domed profile of the centre of the button head. The reverse is undecorated, with a raised cast mark visible, running from the loop fitting to a point at the edge of the button. The button is lead grey in colour, with a mid/dark brown patina. Its surface is unevenly dented and worn.

The button measures: 22.3mm in length and 21mm in diameter. It weighs 18.8 grams.
