Bahasa Indonesia: Bulan mini adalah fenomena ukuran bulan yang terlihat lebih kecil dibandingkan penampakan biasanya. Hal itu disebabkan oleh posisi bulan yang berada pada titik terjauh (apogea) dari bumi pada saat berevolusi mengelilingi bumi. Apogea terjadi karena lintasan bulan mengelilingi bumi bukanlah sebuah lingkaran sempurna, melainkan berbentuk ellips, sehingga pada suatu saat bulan berada pada posisi terjauh, dan pada saat lainnya bulan berada pada titik terdekat dengan bumi (perigea).
Pada tahun 2017, apogea terjadi pada tanggal 9 Juni 2017. Dengan mata telanjang sulit membedakan ukuran bulan pada saat berada pada posisi apogea yang berkurang sekitar 12 % dibandingkan dengan penampakan bulan pada saat perigea.Pada foto ini bulan difoto pada tanggal 9 Juni 2017, pukul 04.51.58 AM dari kompleks Masjid Agung Al Aqsha Klaten (Jawa Tengah) pada 7°41'24.3"S 110°37'02.4"E |
