Title
BUCKLE PLATE
Description
English: Single sheet copper alloy buckle plate. Most of the face of the plate is plain, with the decoration only starting at the far side of the plate. Because all of the decoration starts at the same point it suggests that the face was originally plain rather than being lost through wear. The face of the plate is decorated by four transverse grooves that divide the plate into five ridges. The plate looks similar to some of those found attached to buckles of Hawkes and Dunning type 1A and 1B.
