Title
BUCKLE PLATE
Description
English: An incomplete rectangular buckle plate of the medieval period. The plate is made from folded copper-alloy sheet, and has two copper-alloy rivets at the open end. One of the (two) hinge lugs is missing. Punched linear decoration on the front consists of a lattice pattern of double lines within a rectangular border. The punchmarks are triangular and may have been applied using rouletting, similar to the designs found on medieval mirror cases. The back plate is also rectangular but smaller than the front. The plate has a deep green patina. The frame in pin are missing.
