Title
BUCKLE
Description
English:

A copper-alloy medieval buckle dating to the period AD 1350-1400. It measures 24.63mm in length and 13.31mm at maximum width, though this starts at the rounded knop at 5.79mm and tapers to a base of 9.62mm. The knop is rounded and has a collar at the base, before it extends to an oval frame. At the base there are two knops, one either side, of a constricted bar. The patina is smooth, dark green in colour, and has is no further decoration on the back of the strap slide. In total, the strap slide weighs 2.70g.

There is a buckle in Egan's Dress Accessories (1991) p94, no.421 which is similar in shape.
