Description |
English: An incomplete cast copper alloy double loop buckle dating to the period c. AD 1550 - c.1650. The frames edges remain even are rather fine and do not bevel. The buckle has moulded roundels on the outer edge of each loop, and at either end of the strap bar. On the roundels on the both the outer edges is a flower design. The pin is missing. Overall, the buckle is 48.05mm in length, 27.7mm in width (maximum) and weighs 4.42 grams. A parallel to this buckle can be found in Whitehead (2003) "Buckles" page 51, No. 410. |
