Title |
BUCKLE |
||
Description |
English: Copper-alloy single-loop D-shaped buckle frame, from a wide strap but with a short loop. The bar is offset but not narrowed. The front side shows a number of transverse grooves on one half of the loop, which may be decorative; there is a larger groove in the centre of the outside edge, perhaps forming a pin rest. Both front and reverse are fairly flat,so it is not easy to tell them apart. Width 37mm, length 20mm, thickness 2mm, weight 3.11g. This buckle is difficult to date within the medieval period; it could be 12th to 15th century. Compare PUBLIC-B0C361, which has similar off-centre grooved decoration. |
