English:

An incomplete cast copper alloy post medieval buckle, c. 1550-1650. The copper alloy frame is a double looped sub-oval in plan. At the apex of the loops there is a moulded rose as decoration. The strap bar is narrowed and a rounded triangle in section. The terminal of the strap bar has moulded decoration in the form of a sub-lozenge. The reverse of the frame is flat and undecorated. In profile the frame has been bent forming a very wide 'V'. The pin is missing. The surface of the frame has a dark brown patina. The buckle measures 29.73mm long from the apex of one loop to the other and 41.48mm wide. It weighs 7.98g. Whitehead p66, no. 407.
