Title |
BUCKLE |
||
Description |
English: A fragment of Medieval copper-alloy buckle with integral plate dating to c AD 1230 - 1260. It consists of a single-loop buckle frame with a pin and part of an integrally cast plate which terminates in an old break. The frame is sub-oval and has steeply sloping surfaces. Integerally attached is the buckle plate, which is trapezoidal in shape due to an old break. The plate has two circular holes, one houses the separately attached pin which is bent through the hole closest to the buckle frame. The pin is rectangular in section and tapers to a point. The second hole would have housed a rivet, the hole is where the plate terminates. Reference: Egan and Pritchard (1991) p 79 no 321. |
