Description
Deutsch: Im Braunschweiger Stadtgebiet liegen rote Müllsäcke zur Abholung bereit. In diesen besonderen Säcken wird das Herbstlaub der mit der Kastanienminiermotte befallenen Kastanien gesammelt. Sie werden durch die Müllabfuhr in einer besonderen Sammelaktion abgeholt und ungeöffnet, ohne zwischenzeitliche Deponierung in eine Müllverbrennungsanlage verbracht. Dadurch soll im Folgejahr der Befall durch den Schädling deutlich reduziert werden. Die Sammelaktion „Rettet unsere Kastanien!“ wird vom NABU Braunschweig, der Stadt Braunschweig und dem Entsorgungsunternehmen ALBA durchgeführt.
English: Red garbage bags are ready for collection by the local disposal contractor in Brunswick, Germany. In these special bags autumn leaves of chestnuts infested with the chestnut leaf miner moth are collected to be taken to a waste incineration plant. This is done to significantly reduce the infestation in the following year.
