A fragment of a Roman, copper alloy bow brooch. The item consists of the lower bow and the catchplate, the remainder is missing

The bow is sub oval in cross-section with a pronounced narrowed outer edge, while the inside edge is slightly flattened. The catchplate is simply a narrowing and broadening of the bow , 12.33mm along its length where the pin-curl has been formed. The plate is pierced with a single, triangular, hole. The item is very similar to what can be seen in Hattat 2007, p 301, fig160 no382. It weighs 1.97g.
