Description |
English: An incomplete, damaged copper alloy Roman disc brooch, dating to the period AD c. 80-250. The spring mechanism and the catchplate are incomplete, the pin is missing. The brooch is flat and circular shape with damaged edges. The front is decorated with a series of concentring circles originally filled with enamel, now missing. On the back part are two central prominences where the sping and the catchpalte wee attached. Cf. Hattatt (2007), p. 344, no. 127-128. The brooch measures 24.91mm in diameter, 2.89mm in thick and weights 6.62g. |
