English:

An incomplete Roman copper alloy Aucissa brooch dating to AD 40-60. The head of the brooch is formed from a flat rectangular panel which has been rolled over and splits into two forming a slot for the pin. The pin on this example is missing. The bow is a flat panel and tapers towards the catchplate. The foot knob is missing. The bow is decorated with three ridges running the length of the bow and the edge of the bow are also ridged.

A catchplate projects from the reverse of the foot of the brooch complete with rolled terminal to hold the pin.

The metal has a dark brown/green patina and is worn
