Title
BORER
Description
English:

Two probable flint borers of late Neolithic to Early Bronze Age date, c . 2200-1600 BC.

Flint 1 is a tertiary flake formed of a pale grey white flint, which has some areas of iron staining on both the dorsal and ventral faces. It is triangular in shape, and lozenge shaped in cross section, but the proximal end has broken off, leaving the original boring point missing. Small removals and abrupt retouch are present at the proximal end adjacent to the break. It is 35mm in length, 26mm in width, 8mm thick and weighs 7.27g.

Flint 2 is a secondary flake formed of a dark grey flint, with a brown-ish cream cortex surviving on the dorsal face. It is crescent shaped with a triangular cross section, and a marked triangular point which exaggerates the terminal of the crescent. This has been produced by a large horizontal removal at the distal end. There are small removals on the lateral surface which are scalar and placed at an abrupt angle. It is 30.7mm in length, 14.9mm in width, 7.2mm thickness and weighs 3.8g.

The two flints together weigh 11.07g.
