Summary

[edit]
Description

A twin-row 14-cylinder air-cooled radial, the BMW 801 produced 1,539hp and first ran in 1939. By the end of World War 2 over 61,000 had been produced, mostly powering Focke-Wulf Fw190s and Junkers Ju88s, although the engine was also used on Dornier 217s and in smaller numbers on other types. This example is on display in the Second World War Hall (Hall 5) at the Musée de l'air et de l'espace. Le Bourget Airport, Paris, France.
