Moïse sur la montagne
Description
Français : L’image représente l’épisode biblique dans lequel Moïse reçoit les Tables de la Loi, scellant ainsi sur le mont Sinaï l’alliance du peuple juif avec Dieu. Collaert évoque deux lointains possibles : l’un terrestre, celui de la Terre promise, figuré par le peuple et les troupeaux, l’autre relevant d’une élévation spirituelle, qu’incarne Moïse entendant la parole divine. Ce moment de l’exode hors d’Égypte s’enracine dans de nombreuses pratiques spirituelles qui font de la montagne le moyen d’une recherche d’élévation vers un absolu, vers un ailleurs. L’image s’inspire fidèlement de l’Ancien Testament. Tandis que Moïse gravit seul la montagne et entend la parole de Dieu, le peuple et ses troupeaux attendent son retour déjà conscients de l’exigence de ce pacte reposant sur le respect de la loi divine.- Bibliothèque municipale de Lyon, mis en ligne sur Numelyo
