Français : Porté par un grand nombre de souverains d’Asie du Sud-Est, le titre de rajah recèle une puissance d’évocation qui n’a pas échappé à ce distributeur de café de la fin du 19e siècle, qui n’hésite pas à en jouer afin d’augmenter l’attractivité de son produit. Le Belge Henri Meunier utilise dans cette affiche publicitaire lithographiée un vocabulaire ornemental influencé par l’Art nouveau alors triomphant, notamment dans les courbes des volutes de fumée s’échappant de la tasse, ainsi que dans le lettrage tout en courbes annonçant le nom du café. Mais ce sont surtout les yeux clos d’une princesse à la chevelure de jais, ses bijoux et parure de bras, ainsi que sa tiare, qui contribuent à créer une atmosphère orientale rappelant l’origine exotique du produit.
