Description
Français : Organisée à Lyon en 1894, l’exposition universelle et coloniale a pour but de mettre en valeur les produits issus de la société industrielle en plein essor, mais également de l’empire colonial français alors à son apogée. Les attractions sont aménagées sur le site du parc de la Tête d’Or. Les villages annamites regroupés autour du palais du Tonkin et de l’Annam offrent aux visiteurs une certaine image de l’Indochine récemment conquise par une France expansionniste. L’affiche utilise un vocabulaire iconographique cherchant à susciter dépaysement et émerveillement aux yeux du public. Un guerrier vietnamien au costume richement orné est présenté près d’un portique oriental encadrant les reconstitutions. Masque et bouclier complètent cette évocation de l’Extrême-Orient destinée à solliciter l’adhésion et l’engouement pour l’entreprise coloniale française. - Bibliothèque municipale de Lyon, mis en ligne sur Numelyo
