English: Brass plaques were the medium and mnemonic commissionedby varius Obas (Kings)for one or a combination the following reasons:

To commemmorate significant historical events and enshrine the past in the present and the prsent in the recent past.
To glorify the Oba (King) as well as the awe and the glamour of kingship.
As altar and shrine pieces to lend meaning and visual support to shared religious beliefs, myths and traditions.
