Description
English: This beautiful Chinese rhyton-style cup dates from the 11-12th century, and is carved from grey nephrite jade. The brown staining would have been part of the original weathered skin of the jade boulder, and deliberately incorporated into the cup to give an impression fo great age. The ornamentation on the cup harks back to the \"archaic bronze\" designs from much earlier in Chinese history.
