Description

Diagram of Mk II star shell for British BL 10 pounder mountain gun, World War I.
Shell length 8.318 inches, diameter 2.73 inches, weight filled and fuzed 6 lb 15 oz.
Contains 10 stars, in 2 tiers of 5.
This shell has a 1 inch G.S. gauge fuze hole, and would typically use No. 25 Time Fuze.
Mk II has a 3 drams R.F.G.2 burster, and a primer of 15 grains of gunpowder in a shalloon bag in the central tube.


Mk III is similar, but has a 3 1/4 drams burster and no primer in the central tube.
