[edit]DescriptionBENJAMIN FRANKLIN (15292300339).jpg |
The paddle-wheeler BENJAMIN FRANKLIN sank on this day in 1850. Like many other vessels before it, the FRANKLIN ran aground on Thunder Bay Island. This infamous Great Lakes 'ship trap' has ended the careers of many ships throughout history. Today, the FRANKLIN has not been discovered completely. The hull sections remain unidentified today, intermixed with the various other ship parts. To learn more about the BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, visit Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary. |
