Description
Español: ¿Plebiscito?. En 1980 se llevó a cabo un referéndum para aprobar o rechazar la Constitución Política de 1980 y la permanencia de Augusto Pinochet en el poder. La campaña por ambas opciones de voto fue dispareja ya que el gobierno pudo contar con participación en los principales medios de comunicación. Sin embargo, la oposición, liderada por el ex presidente Eduardo Frei Montalva logró consolidar a sus partidarios quienes se congregaron en el Teatro Caupolicán en agosto de ese mismo año. El país no contó con un registro electoral y para ejercer el derecho a voto sólo era necesario ser mayor de edad y contar con la cédula de identidad al día. El 11 de septiembre de 1980 se llevó a cabo el plebiscito, proceso que fue controlado por el Ministerio del Interior, donde se impuso la opción Si.
