Summary

[edit]
Description

Another photo from a series of 6 uploaded in February 2012 depicting SNCF electric locos on pasenger trains. With its distinctive maroon, orange and grey livery and Paul Arzens "Nez Cassé" design, an example of class BB15000 is seen at Longuyon. Initially all allocated to Strasbourg depot, they were commonplace on passenger trains in Eastern France. Nowadays with the introduction of TGVs the work has thinned out their use but can still be found in Northern France.

On 3 September 1989, BB15025 was in charge of a train on the once important "La Transversale Nord-Est" route from Lille via Charleville-Mézières to Thionville. Long distance trains such the above from Calais through to Basel would take this route, albeit slow with several reversals have now gone in a system full of TGVs.
