Summary

[edit]
Description Calypso, Gibratar Leyland B45 G77960 is seen turning into the memorial square whilst working the 10 from the Frontier to the City Centre on 29th November 2006. Nine prototype Leyland B45 vehicles were built, they were an adaption of the Leyland Titan which was designed to accommodate bodywork from any manufacturer and enable low height bodies to be used. There was a need to replace the outdated Fleetline, Bristol VR and Atlantean with an air suspension model suitable for the 1980's. This was the sixth B45 and the only left hand drive version, it was bodied by ECW and used as a demonstrator in Baghdad. The production version was designated Leyland Olympian, this became the most successful double decker design ever.
