Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A North American B-45A Tornado (s/n 47-021) at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) Langley Aeronautical Laboratory at Hampton, Virginia (USA). The B-45 was powered by four General Electric J35 turbojets, however, the aircraft's performance was not as high as was expected. The B-45A flown at Langley as NACA 121 was lost on 14 August 1952, in an accident which claimed the life of NACA pilot Herbert H. Hoover.
Five Curtiss C-46 Commando transports are visible in the left background.
