| Description |
English: Bàgh Mhiùghlaigh and site of village There is a story about two men who left Mingulay together. One to visit Barra, the other to emigrate to New York. They said their goodbyes in Castlebay on Barra. It did not work out for the one who went to America and he returned three months later. To his surprise he met his friend in Castlebay again, who explained he had been unable to return to Mingulay since they had last met due to adverse sea conditions. Priests and doctors had similar problems. The island was finally abandoned when the last six families left in the summer of 1912. |
