Description
English: A historic photo of the B'nai Jacob Synagogue in Ottumwa, Iowa, from the north looking toward the bimah and Torah ark. The original black-and-white print from which this photograph was taken shows evidence of retouching typical of early 20th-century work.
Date Certainly before 1940, and probably shortly after 1915.
Source Copy of retouched print hanging in the foyer of B'nai Jacob Synagogue. An elderly member of the congregation recalls that the print was given to the synagogue by Joe Barmash, who died in 1940. No other copies of this photograph are known to exist, aside from recent reprints from this print.
Author Unknown authorUnknown author, probably taken for the synagogue shortly after construction in 1915.
