Description
Magyar: Az 1766-os országos összeírás szerint már kisgimnáziumként tartották számon. Itt tanult Petőfi Sándor is. 1850 után visszaminősítették, majd az 1862/63-as tanévben újra megnyílt az algimnázium, ezekben az években tanított itt Csengey Gusztáv, országos hírű költő. Az intézmény másik mozgatója, lelkes szervezője Moravcsik Mihály, evangélikus lelkész volt, vezetésével létrehozták az alumneumot, így megoldották a vidéki tanulók olcsó élelmezését, tanszereket, könyveket szerzett a szegény diákoknak, s ő szorgalmazta az iskola bővítését, az emeletráépítést is.
